Nursery Care

Staffed child care is provided for young children in our dedicated nursery during every worship serviuu-img_0929.jpgce.  Parents are asked to bring their well infant or toddler to the nursery several minutes before the beginning of a scheduled worship.  We endeavor to provide young children with a warm, accepting, and safe space in which to become acquainted with our faith community.  Every effort is made to assure that children are content and engaged during the time their parents are in worship.  Parents will be notified if their presence is needed for the welfare of their child by a pager system.

4 year-old/Kindergarten
Spirit Play is a Montessori based curriculum created for UU congregations. This curriculum has stories that are told about the UU promises or principles. The youngest members of RE begin with a ritual and then continue with a story, work time and a feast.  This hands on curriculum allows exploration in the classroom.

Throughout the year, there will also be intergenerational presentations for 1st-8th graders by Fellowship artists, members of the Social Action Task Forces and opportunities for the youth to be a part of our Revels celebration in December. Each of these times will allow the young people to interact with other youth and adults in our community.

Grades 1-3
This is a unique curriculum that is based on the Free to Believe curriculum from The Shelter Rock Faith Community. Each session contains a ritual similar to the one that occurs in the Fellowship service, a story, movement, and exploration.

Grades 4-5
The 4th and 5th grade students will be examining the Seven Principles through stories and movies. Combined with the Social Justice Task Forces and art projects, we are hoping that they begin to embody the principles at their developmental level.
